MICRO-FICTION, MACRO-IMPACT
Have you always wanted to write fiction, but you’re daunted by the sheer scope of the challenge? Well, let me welcome you to Micro-Fiction, Macro-Impact, a generative craft class built for beginners and beyond. Over the course of five weeks, we’ll orbit and analyze fiction so small, so beautifully written, it feels like poetry (and sometimes, when the language really sings, it IS poetry).
Each week, we’ll discuss a different craft element vital to the short-short story: from the sentence as building-block, to the sheer power of the characterizing detail. This is a generative course, which means you’ll emerge with at least four original micro-stories (prompts will be provided). You’ll also emerge with an expanded library of the writers who are doing microfiction, and doing it well. Class will be lively, vibrant, and supportive, a fertile environment for your zaniest story-ideas.

"The mind acts, the mind wills a poem, often against our own will; somehow this happens, somehow a poem gets written in the middle of a chaotic holiday party that has just run out of ice, and it's your house."
